There may be serious repercussions for a trucking company involved in a fatal wreck a year ago.

The Pennsylvania attorney general's office is seeking punitive damages against New Jersey-based tanker hauler Samuel Coraluzzo Co. for its involvement in a fiery crash along I-95 that left two people dead. The accident forced parts of the road to be closed for weeks to make repairs at a cost of $3 million.
The attorney general's office decided to seek the damages after a federal investigation found widespread violations of hours-of-service rules by the company's drivers.
The case is being viewed by many as a test as to whether states can seek damages from carriers involved in similar accidents.
