The Racine County, WI, Sheriff’s Department has netted nearly 200 speeders doing 80 mph or faster during a crackdown the past five weeks on Interstate 94.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that in the most recent crackdown, Feb. 25, officials targeted cars going 80 mph and faster and trucks traveling 76 mph and over. The speed limit is 65 mph. Among those arrested Thursday was a 24-year-old Milwaukee woman driving a van at 100 mph.
Racine County Sheriff William McReynolds says the crackdown will continue. Even after five major enforcement efforts in as many weeks, he says, people don’t seem to be slowing down. He has enlisted the help of other local sheriff’s departments.
