TravelCenters of America locations will become official parts and service providers to Freightliner owners and drivers in a new deal with the truck manufacturer. As part of the deal, Freightliner will buy an interest in TravelCenters of America.

The agreement will augment Freightliner’s network of 300 dealers with an express parts and service network of 124 TA locations in 39 states. It’s a first in the industry, Freightliner says.
While the dealer network will remain the frontline for service, TA locations will be incorporated into Freightliner’s 24-hour customer assistance center database and will serve as a major referral point to emergency and roadside repairs. They will also have access to Freightliner parts distribution, service and technical info systems. TA locations will focus on express service and minor repairs such as PMs, brake, electrical HVAC, DOT inspections and trailer maintenance and repair. A specific menu of warranty repairs will be included.
“Freightliner continues to build and put a record number of trucks on the road,” said Freightliner President Jim Hebe. “By combining the service forces of our Freightliner dealers with the top-rated TravelCenters of America service network, we are aggressively stepping up our support of customers.” TAs provided maintenance and repair services to some 2,800 trucks a day in 1998, Hebe notes.
