Nov. 27 -- Michigan will be testing a new ice remover this winter. Ice Ban, uses what's left over after agricultural products are processed with the chemical magnesium chloride.

Ice Ban will be tested on U.S. Route 31 in several counties. Indiana, which tested Ice Ban last year, reported fewer accidents in test areas. Ice Ban may cost more than salt or sand, but it's not corrosive and is more effective because it works in temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees.
