Nov. 10 – Tom Leedham, viewed as the underdog in the Teamsters election against James P. Hoffa, urged supporters to toss out the union’s “old guard” as he campaigned in Milwaukee this weekend.
Ballots went out last week to 1.4 million Teamsters members in the rerun election, ordered after then-president of the Teamsters Ron Carey was implicated in campaign finance shenanigans.
Leedham spoke Saturday night in Milwaukee to members of Teamsters for a Democratic Union, a 22-year-old group that opposes Hoffa. He conjured up images of corruption and said there are people who “don’t want to go back to those days.” Leedham and TDU officials urged members to vote.
Leedham is spending this week campaigning in the Pacific Northwest.
