Oct. 16 – A trucker’s family support organization based on the Internet plans to give out hats, gloves and scarves to truckers who have to work this Christmas.

HOMEROAD, which stands for “Hands Over Miles Easily Reaching Out Across Divides,” is asking for donations of hats, gloves and scarves, as well as volunteers willing to contact truckstops and arrange for distribution. Each gift will be accompanied by a card from HOMEROAD wishing them all the best over the holidays.
“I had families who mentioned that they would like to see HOMEROAD do something for drivers this Christmas,” says Kim Thomas, founder. “One suggestion was an Adopt-A-Driver idea for dinner, but that seemed full of liability. So I thought, how can we show drivers we care – and what do they need? Hats, gloves and scarves to keep warm in the blizzards this winter.”
