Qualcomm reports the number of carriers offering its CabCard driver e-mail system to drivers has doubled since it was introduced in October 1996. More than 70,000 drivers now have access to the program.
Among the OmniTRACS-equipped carriers who signed up for CabCard during the second quarter of 1998 are McClendon Trucking, Arrow Trucking, Pride Transport, FFE, Barr Nunn and Anderson Trucking.
CabCard is a prepaid service providing driver e-mail, discounted long-distance phone rates and voice mail capabilities. It allows Internet e-mail to be sent and received directly from the cab of the truck using the OmniTRACS mobile communications system.
