Hub Group has adopted the SmartDrive video-based safety platform for its fleet of more than 2,600 tractors, with the aim of improving driver safety and fuel economy.

After trying out two competing video telematics systems, the Oak Brook, Illinois-based multi-modal carrier chose SmartDrive for its intuitive interface, safety tools, and customer service support.

"Our priority is to make sure all our drivers get home safely to their families every night, and introducing video-based safety technology is the logical next phase of our safety evolution," said Jason Letchford, senior director, fleet technology of Hub Group.

Hub Group also liked SmartDrive’s platform for its video quality, wider camera angles, extended recording capabilities, and available options through the SmartChoice program.

The extended recording ability can help Hub Group to track low or no-impact driving events for fleet managers to analyze if needed. On the back end, the operations team will have access to a large and varied amount of data and reference points.
