GPS-based telematics provider Spireon announced that Kevin Weiss has been named as the company’s next chief executive officer.

Weiss will lead the company’s strategic growth plan, including the expansion of offerings of all major segments in vehicle telematics, including solutions for new and used car dealers and lenders, small and enterprise fleets, rental car companies and consumer markets.

Prior to Spireon, Weiss served as CEO of Unitrends, a technology company that offers end-to-end business recovery solutions. He also served as the president and CEO of several private-equity owned, technology-enabled companies following his role as president of McAfee and after holding senior sales and marketing leadership roles at IBM.

Spireon also reached a new company milestone by hitting 3-million active subscribers and achieving record-breaking sales for the first quarter of 2016. The quarterly results mark six consecutive quarters of double-digit growth for the company.

“The growing adoption of vehicle telematics proves that the internet of things is not made up of distant technologies that we will see implemented far off into the future,” said Weiss. “Spireon is an IoT trailblazer and by hitting this new milestone, we are leading the way in providing connected devices and solutions that serve as a viable business differentiator and competitive advantage for our customers.”
