Prime Driver Named Highway Angel of the Year

Prime truck driver Josh Grimaldi was named the Highway Angel of the Year at this year’s Truckload Carriers Association Annual Meeting in Las Vegas.

Grimaldi was recognized for helping a pregnant woman who was trapped in her vehicle after an accident.

He was driving westbound in Nevada on Interstate 80 over the Donner Pass when a car attempted to pass him. While passing, the vehicle hit an icy patch, fishtailed and hit the back of Grimaldi’s trailer. It then flipped several times, eventually coming to a stop near the edge of the road.

Grimaldi pulled over immediately and ran to the vehicle, which had been crushed in the accident. Unable to open the door, he asked a passing motorist to dial 911 while he ran to his truck to get his flashlight. Using the flashlight to force the door open, he found a pregnant woman inside who was in shock.

After calming her down, Grimaldi climbed into the vehicle and lifted her out and then took her to a nearby embankment to assess her injuries.

“Josh has only been working as a professional driver for about a year now, but he certainly made a name for himself right away,” said Robert Low, a former TCA chairman and the president and founder of Prime, Inc. “We are very pleased to call him part of our trucking family.”

For being named Highway Angel of the Year, Grimaldi was presented with a trophy as well as prizes that included an EpicVue satellite TV package with a 24-inch flat screen TV, a DVR and a one-year subscription to DirecTV.
