The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance has appointed Collin B. Mooney as its executive director, effective Jan. 11, 2016, the organization announced.

Mooney has been with CVSA for 13 years and has served as the deputy executive director since 2010. He has also served as the alliance’s acting executive director.

In his new role, Mooney will be tasked with providing leadership, direction and administration for all aspects of the alliance. He will respond to the needs of membership, advocate CVSA’s public policy positions, provide programs and services to members and partners and work toward achieving the alliance’s goals.

Mooney has 27 years of experience in the transportation safety industry dedicated to large truck and bus safety.

Prior to working with CVSA, Mooney was with the Saskatchewan Highway Transport Patrol in Canada. He also spent more than a decade as a transport officer with the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Branch of Alberta Transportation.

"As a former transport officer and CVSA-certified inspector, I understand the many challenges our roadside inspectors face, each and every day, in order to ensure the safe and efficient movement of people and commerce throughout North America," said Mooney.
