Women In Trucking is seeking industry professionals for its Image Team to represent the association and bring awareness to causes affecting women in the trucking industry.

WIT’s mission is to encourage the employment of women in the trucking industry, promote their accomplishments and minimize obstacles to their success. The Image Team will be the face of WIT by attending major truck shows, writing articles and giving media interviews. These female professionals will also serve as mentors for new Image Team members.

This is the first year that Image Team applications have been open to all women in the trucking industry, not limiting it to drivers. All trucking industry professionals are welcome to apply including drivers, technicians and dispatchers. The applicant must have an outstanding safety record and speak convincingly about her commitment to safety.

“Women are still an anomaly in the trucking industry and the media is often intrigued to learn more about the females who are perceived as doing a ‘man’s job,’” said Ellen Voie, president and CEO of WIT. “This diverse Image Team will break that stereotype and will serve as role models for the women who enter the trucking industry in the future."

Nominations are accepted through Jan. 31, 2016. The top ten qualifying applications will participate in a selection interview in February. The 2016 Image Team will be announced at the Salute to Women Behind the Wheel event at the Mid-America Trucking Show in April.

Applications can be found on the WIT website.
