Kenworth has announced three new options, all  aimed at the company’s lineup of vocational trucks-- a new transmission, a bumper and a fixed grille

The Allison 4700 RDS 7-Speed automatic transmission with optional second “deep reverse” can now be ordered on the Kenworth T880, T800, W900 and C500 trucks. The transmission is part of the Allison Rugged Duty series.

“In the construction world, trucks often need better speed control for job-site maneuverability in steep and often tricky terrain,” said Kurt Swihart, Kenworth marketing director. “It offers a lower reverse ratio, and a lower first gear ratio for maneuverability. The new Allison transmission also features no-power interrupts, which gives full power shifts and allows full use of the engine’s horsepower.”

For the Kenworth T880, a box bumper is being offered in steel or aluminum. The bumper features a tapered design for hood pivot clearance and is designed to protect the grille and headlight area. The box bumper is available on both short and standard T880 hoods.

The steel version of the bumper comes in a choice of 1/4- or 3/8-inch thicknesses and can be painted in the body or chassis paint color. The chrome version comes in a thickness of 1/4 inch.

A fixed-grille option is now available for the W900S equipped with the Paccar PX-9 in a set-forward front axle configuration. The fixed grille allows owners and body builders to use the front of the truck without impacting the ability to open the hood. The option is aimed at crane operators or those using the W900S as a vacuum truck with a steady leg or boom supports, according to Kenworth.
