C.L. Werner

C.L. Werner was elected chairman of the carrier he founded, Werner Enterprises, after Gary Werner stepped down.

Gary Werner is not leaving company leadership and has been elected vice chairman, replacing current CEO Greg Werner. Gary will also continue to serve on the company’s board of directors along with with C.L. Werner and Greg Werner.

C.L. Werner was the company’s founder and first truck driver, and the company says he is excited to help the company grow and overcome industry headwinds such as the driver shortage. He will focus on making the company a good environment for drivers to work as well as implementing new technologies to enhance safety.

In 2011, C.L. Werner, at age 73, stepped down the chairman role and became chairman emeritus. 

Gary Werner has been with the company for nearly 40 years, and served in a variety of positions at Werner including president, vice chairman and chairman.
