“How high up could this go?”

That’s one of many questions people are asking in the wake of federal authorities disclosing an investigation into whether the truckstop chain Pilot Flying J cheated trucking customers out of money in the form of rebates from fuel purchases.

Cleveland, Ohio’s WKYC-TV asked the question following three guilty pleas of employees this week, and two earlier, that it describes as at least a few steps away from CEO Jimmy Haslam's desk.

It spoke with one local attorney who said, "I suspect that the US Attorney's goal is to keep trying to work his or her way up the chain."
