| Cross-section of Riv-Float installed |
New York-based Sherex Fastening Solutions, which manufactures and distributes blind rivet nuts, has rolled out a new patent pending rivet nut with internally floating threads.
Riv-Float, as it's called, features internally floating threads that allow for component attachments in off-center applications and can accommodate for tolerance stack up in the manufacturing process.
The floating nut aligns the drive angle of the screw and thus eliminates cross threading and spinout, the company says. The product was designed for post installation in applications where cage nuts, clinch nuts, floating nut plates or weld nuts are typically used.
