| The pink bobtail is equipped with the Blackmer Model TLGLF3C Propane Pump and BV2 Bypass Valve. |
Blackmer has donated a propane pump to Patriot Propane, Ramona, Calif., to be used on a pink bobtail that will raise funds for breast-cancer research, education, screening and treatment. Through Patriot Propane's breast cancer awareness program, one cent of every gallon of propane pumped by the pink bobtail will go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation.
"We've seen these trucks out there and know that it's a good cause," said Dave Barrett, owner of Patriot Propane. "Breast cancer is close to many of us in our company; my wife has had it, my mother-in-law had it, a woman in our office is currently going through treatments."
The bobtail was designed and built by Jarco, Inc., of Salem, Ill., which produces bobtails for propane-transporting operations.
"Dave (Barrett) told me about the members of his family and the employees that have been touched by breast cancer, so right there, I knew it was heart-felt," said Nancy Coop, owner/president of Jarco. "You don't expect a propane truck to be pink and when you see it, there's sort of an 'a-ha' moment, then you realize why."
The bobtail is equipped with the Blackmer Model TLGLF3C Propane Pump and BV2 Bypass Valve. The TLGLF3C is a three-inch pump designed to flange mount directly to a commercial internal control valve in combination with the tank of a bobtail. The pumps have an internal relief valve and patented cavitation suppression liners that reduce vibration and wear that can affect performance and shorten pump life. They are also equipped with a double-ended drive shaft for clockwise or counterclockwise rotation.
