The NATSO Foundation is now accepting online registration for the 2010 Bill Moon Scholarship, awarded to deserving students with ties to the truckstop industry and whose academic qualifications and achievements are considered outstanding.
In 2009, the NATSO Foundation honored eight students with a $2,500 scholarship.
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be travel plaza or truckstop employees or their dependents. Applicants do not need to be associated with a NATSO member travel plaza or truckstop.
The NATSO Foundation began awarding scholarships to industry employees and their dependants in 1993. The scholarship is named in honor of Bill Moon, creator of Iowa 80. More than $250,000 in scholarships has been awarded since 1993.
To be considered, applicants must submit:
* Bill Moon Scholarship application
* A 500-1,000 word essay describing a personal experience with an ethical dilemma
* A letter of recommendation describing the applicant's character traits and achievements
* High School/College academic transcript
* Financial information
Applications are reviewed by an independent committee experienced in scholarship administration. The deadline for submissions is April 16, 2010.
