9/3/2009  Shatner to Speak at NTEA Truck Show, Convention

The Work Show 2010 and 46th Annual National Truck Equipment Association Convention will host William Shatner as the keynote speaker at the president's breakfast and NTEA annual meeting on March 11.

The Work Truck Show 2010 will be held in conjunction with the 46th Annual NTEA Convention March 9-12, 2010, at America's Center, St. Louis, Mo.

During his keynote presentation, Shatner will share stories of his own fears and his evolution in dealing with them. He'll be focusing on how people in the industry need to forge new paths and seek out new opportunities, especially in this economy.

"We are really looking forward to William Shatner's keynote presentation," said Jim Carney, NTEA executive director. "With his background, he is singularly qualified to demonstrate to our members and attendees that you can have more than one success in life and in business, if you work to move past your fears. He knows from experience that there is life after Captain Kirk."

Shatner may be most famous for originating the role of Captain James T. Kirk in the "Star Trek" television series in the 1960s. He later reprised the role in seven "Star Trek" movies. Shatner went on to play the title role in the television series "T.J. Hooker" and hosted television's first reality-based series, "Rescue 911," for six seasons. He has won Emmy and Golden Globe awards for his role as eccentric law firm partner Denny Crane on two television series, "The Practice" and "Boston Legal." Although he currently hosts "Shatner's Raw Nerve," a celebrity interview series on the Biography channel, Shatner may be most familiar on television these days in commercials as celebrity spokesman for Priceline.com.

In addition to his television and film credits, Shatner authored several best-selling books, including the novel series "TekWar," his latest autobiography "Up Till Now," and his new comic book series, "William Shatner Presents."

The Work Truck Show brings together vocational, municipal and private truck fleet managers and truck buyers from the Class 1-8 market with hundreds of the manufacturers, distributors and dealers that produce the trucks and equipment critical to their work. It also features industry-specific technical training sessions. More than 40 educational programs are offered during the event on topics such as hybrid and alternative fuel technologies, specification writing, truck upfitting, fleet productivity and industry trends.
