U.S. Driving Level Highest in Six Years

New estimates released by the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration show that American driving between July 2013 and June 2014 is at levels not seen since 2008.

GAO Suggests Mileage Fees for Trucks

Congress might want to consider a mileage fee for trucks and electric vehicles when it looks for ways to strengthen highway funding, says the Government Accountability Office. GAO said that while privacy concerns and other issues limit the usefulness of such fees for automobiles, Congress should consider a pilot program to test them for trucks and electric cars

Bill Would Set up VMT Pilot Project

U.S. Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) introduced legislation in the House of Representatives that would fund a Vehicle Miles Traveled pilot program to examine a new source of funding that would help make up for the Highway Trust Fund deficit
