Crete, Shaffer to Offer On-the-Job Training for Veterans

Wreaths Across America Honors Veterans With 540,000 Wreaths

Wreaths Across America, along with nearly 30,000 volunteers, placed remembrance wreaths on the headstones of more than 143,000 veterans at Arlington National Cemetery on Dec. 14. This is the organization’s 22nd year laying wreaths at the Nation’s cemetery and marks the largest number ever delivered.

TCA Enlisting Trucking Volunteers for Wreaths Across America Project

More than 400,000 balsam fir wreaths made in Maine were distributed to cemeteries to decorate graves of military service members in 2012.

Trucking companies are helping with the annual effort to decorate more than 400,000 military graves with balsam fir laurels this Saturday.

FMCSA Releases Study Outlining Opportunities for Returning Veterans

A new study released by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration recommended a series of regulatory changes to further ease the transition of military personnel and veterans into much-needed civilian jobs driving commercial motor vehicles.

Prime Launches Military Fast Track Campaign in North Carolina

At the beginning of 2013, an estimated 844,000 veterans were unemployed and looking for work, including 252,000 post 9/11 veterans. According to the White House report, “Fast Track to Civilian Employment,” there is somewhere between 240,000 to 360,000 service members who separate from the military each year. A million more are expected over the next several years.

FMCSA Announces $1 Million to Train Veterans, Military Families

The Army National Guard's "Drive the Guard" program is putting soldiers behind the wheel while they are in uniform and helping them to qualify for fulltime civilian employment as a truck driver.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration announced almost $1 million in new grants to help train veterans and military families for jobs in the transportation industry.

Arkansas-based USA Truck added a driver recruiting website exclusively for military veterans. Called "We Hire Heroes" and located at www.HiringMilitaryDrivers.com, this new site is designed to make the transition to civilian employment easier for military personnel.

States Ease CDL Restrictions for Military

In the past two years, 34 states have adopted laws that allow motor vehicle departments to waive the CDL skills test for qualified military veterans, the Obama administration says in a new report.
