Mercedes-Benz Considers Vito Van for U.S. Market

Mercedes-Benz U.S.A. is considering bringing the Vito commercial van to the U.S. market to offer with its larger Sprinter, a spokesman has confirmed to Automotive Fleet, a sister publication of Heavy Duty Trucking.

Freight Index Tracks Change in Q3 Seasonal Patterns

A shift in seasonal trends drove spot market freight volumes down 5.3% in September, as reported by the DAT North American Freight Index. Freight volumes remained stable throughout much of the third quarter, instead of a more typical decline in July that is followed by mixed trends in August and September.

Polk Forecasts New Commercial Van Models Will Drive Market Segment Growth

New analysis from R.L. Polk says the commercial van segment in the U.S. is growing as it splits into two categories, full-size and compact, where once only the full-size category existed. The company said this is due to the arrival of a number of new models in the marketplace.

Mercedes Says 2014 Sprinter Van to Come Standard With Four-Cylinder Diesel Engine

Mercedes Benz unveiled its new 2014-MY Sprinter Van, which the automaker said has a new design, is more economical, and more environmentally friendly. The company said this redesign comes after seven years of the current-generation Sprinter.
