At the ACT Expo in Washington, D.C., Mack displayed a Pinnacle tractor like the 122 just ordered by UPS. It has a Cummins ISX12 G engine that runs on liquefied natural gas instead of compressed NG.

United Parcel Service is so committed to using low-emissions fuels that all of the 700 Class 8 vehicles it has ordered for delivery late this year and into 2014 will run on liquefied natural gas.

UPS Adding 700 New LNG Vehicles Across 10 States

UPS has announced the accelerated growth of its alternative vehicle fleet with plans to purchase approximately 700 liquefied natural gas vehicles and to build four refueling stations by the end of 2014. Once completed, the company says, the LNG private fleet will be one of the most extensive in the U.S.

European Regulators Scotch UPS/TNT Deal

It looks like United Parcel Service's proposed deal to buy European package giant TNT Express will not go through, after the European Commission informed the two companies that it is working on a decision to prohibit the proposed acquisition. UPS announced last March plans to acquire Dutch package company TNT Express for 5.16 billion euros or $6.8 billion. It would have been UPS' biggest purchase to date
