New Equity Partner for Transplace

Third-party logistics company Transplace has selected the New York-based private investment firm Greenbriar Equity Group as its new equity partner. Greenbriar acquired Transplace from an affiliate of CI Capital Partners, who joined with Transplace management in 2009 to buy the company from its original owners.

Survey: Speed Reduction, Driver Training, Progressive Shifting Give Best Fuel Efficiency Payback

Reducing speed and driver training were two of the fuel-saving strategies fleets said were most effective.

A survey of fuel efficiency initiatives found that the best payback came from cutting highway speed, training drivers and progressive shifting. Not surprisingly, these actions, along with recording engine data for greater driver feedback, also were the most commonly implemented among the carriers surveyed
