New Jersey Cargo Theft Bill Signed into Law

On May 9, New Jersey Gov. Christie signed bipartisan legislation sponsored by Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande and Assembly Republican Conference Leader Dave Rible that cracks down on cargo theft in New Jersey. The measure is named the "Lt. Scott Jenkins Law" in memory of a founding member of the State Police Cargo Theft Unit, and is sponsored by 17 other Assembly Republicans.

GAO Slams Homeland Security Department Over TWIC Card Readers

A new Government Accountability Office report to Congress has some far from kind words about the Transportation Security Administration and biometric readers used in the Transportation Worker Identification Credential program, overseen by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and coordinated along with the U.S. Coast Guard.

Cargo Thefts Decrease In U.S., Mexico Announces Plan To Combat Highway Crime

Logistics security services provider FreightWatch International issued two new reports, one showing cargo theft fell in the United State from December 2012 through last February and another about a plan in Mexico to combat crime along its highways, including cargo thefts.
