Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell announced that the Commonwealth Transportation Board has awarded $168 million worth of transportation projects. Construction will soon begin on projects to replace bridges and widen and improve roads in several areas of the state.

Virginia I-95 South Bridge Closed For Construction

All I-95 southbound traffic will be directed to Exit 148, MCBQ, Russell Road east to U.S. Route 1 south to Garrisonville Road (Route 610) and back to I-95 south.

Weather permitting, this Friday night, Oct. 18 and Saturday night, Oct. 19 starting at 9:30 p.m., the Virginia Department of Transportation will begin to close lanes on I-95 south just before Marine Corps Base Quantico Russell Road to Garrisonville Road progressing to a full closure of I-95 south from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m., Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Flammable Cargo Prohibited on I-90 Between Seattle and Mercer Island

Over the next two decades most of the aging Interstate highway system will need to be reconstructed and will cost approximately $1 trillion, nearly $600 billion in rebuilding costs plus $400 billion to add capacity, according to a new study from the right/libertarian leaning think-tank the Reason Foundation.
