Utilities Increase Commitment to Electric Vehicles

More than 70 investor-owned electric utilities announced they will increase investment in electric vehicles for their fleets by an estimated $50 million per year, or $250 million over five years, starting in 2015.

Utilities Urged to Double EV Investment

Edison Electric Institute (EEI) and a few private utilities are urging other electric utilities to more than double their current investments in electric fleet vehicles. Both groups have taken steps to support utilities working to achieve this goal.

DOE Grant Will Help Deploy 120 Plug-in Hybrid Work Trucks

Odyne Systems, which makes hybrid systems for large trucks, will be able to deploy more than 120 plug-in hybrid work trucks for municipalities and utilities, thanks to a $45.4 million U.S. Department of Energy award.
