Freightliner Adds ISX12 G to 114SD for 2015

The increased output of the Cummins-Westport ISX12 G will open new markets to the 114SD, including mixer, dump, and roll-off applications. At 400 hp and 1,450 lb-ft, the IXS12 G is an ideal engine for the severe duty market where natural gas is fast becoming an alternative to diesel fuel.

Report: 14% of Medium, Heavy Duty Vehicles Sold in 2035 Will Run on Alternative Fuels

Medium and heavy duty vehicles represent less than 5% of the total vehicle market today, and the vast majority of these use conventional internal combustion engines powered by either gasoline or diesel. That is changing as less expensive alternatives to petroleum-based fuels, such as natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas and electricity make inroads in the market.

Power Solutions Receives EPA Certification for 8.8-Liter Engine

EVO CNG, Trillium CNG Open First CNG Fueling Station in Joint Venture

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker was on hand to celebrate the opening of the EVO Trillium CNG facility in Oak Creek Wisconsin.

EVO CNG and its joint venture partner, Trillium CNG, celebrated the grand opening this week of what they say is the largest compressed natural gas fueling station in Wisconsin, located in Oak Creek, and the first to open in their partnership.

APG Books Return Orders for Dual-Fuel Gas-Diesel Systems

Clarke Power assembled this Freightliner glider with a Detroit Series 60 engine equipped with APG’s dual-fuel system, enabling it to run on natural gas and diesel. Gas is stored in liquefied form on this tractor.

The company says its dual-fuel gliders outperform and are more reliable than dedicated natural gas engines that customers are evaluating.

CNG Vehicles Affected by Fuel Tank Pressure Relief Valve Recall

Certain pressure relief valves for use on compressed natural gas fuel tanks are being recalled by Circor, which does business as Circle Seal Controls. The affected valves have O-rings that could fail after being exposed to cold temperatures, allowing natural gas to leak from the fuel tank.

Kroger Adding LNG Fleet in Oregon

Kroger announced will be the first in Oregon to deploy a fleet of heavy-duty trucks that run on liquified natural gas. The 40 LNG trucks will replace 40 diesel trucks currently in use, and are expected to start making store deliveries in the Portland metropolitan area by the end of 2014.

New fleet of Republic Services CNG trucks arrives in Houston.

Republic Services Inc. announced the deployment of an additional 49 compressed natural gas solid waste and recycling trucks to serve customers throughout greater Houston. The company has introduced a total of 104 new CNG trucks in greater Houston within the past year, replacing older diesel-powered trucks.
