Cummins Announces ISV5.0 V-8 Diesel for Light and Midrange Trucks

Cummins&amp;rsquo; 5-liter V-8 diesel will go into production in about a year. Nissan is the first to announce its use in its 2015 Titan pickup.<br />

Cummins is going after more of the light- and medium-duty market with its new ISV5.0, a 5-liter (302-cubic-inch) V-8 diesel that promises high performance and low total cost of ownership.

Navistar to Add Cummins ISB to International Trucks; MaxxForce Diesels Continue

The Cummins ISB is available for order immediately in International DuraStar medium-duty trucks.

Navistar International Corp. says it will offer the Cummins ISB 6.7-liter diesel in its International DuraStar medium-duty trucks and CE series IC school buses, but that this doesn't mean it's getting out of the engine business.

BELLEVUE, WASH -- Kenworth's K270 and K370 cabover medium-duty trucks, introduced about 18 months ago, are making far more inroads into the market than the company's previous forays into this segment, say company officials.

DOE Grant Will Help Deploy 120 Plug-in Hybrid Work Trucks

Ford: Moisture in Cooler Causing Loss of Power in F-150 EcoBoost Engines

Customer complaints about loss of power with Ford’s EcoBoost V-6 engine in its F-150 pickups, reported by the general news media over the Memorial Day weekend, stem from moisture accumulation in the trucks’ charge-air cooler, Ford Motor Co. says. Dealers have been informed of a fix and will do the work under warranty.

ATRI Research: Medium-Duty Crash Numbers Could be Dragging Down Heavy-Duty Stats

The American Transportation Research Institute has just released research findings that looked into variations in safety trends across different classes of large trucks. The study separated and evaluated a decade of medium- and heavy-duty truck crash records and identified trends, with medium-duty trucks generally performing worse than heavy-duty.

Ford, GM to Jointly Develop Multi-Speed Transmissions

Ford and GM plan to jointly develop a new generation of advanced 9- and 10-speed automatics for cars, crossover and sport utility vehicles, and trucks.

Multi-speed transmissions were once reserved for heavy trucks, but 8-speed automatics are now available in automobiles and pickups, and soon there’ll be even more ratios.
