Navistar Moves to Cut Jobs as Third Quarter Loss Widens

Truck and engine manufacturer Navistar International announced a fiscal third quarter 2013 net loss of $247 million compared to third quarter 2012 net income of $84 million. Earlier this month, the company began implementing new cost-reduction initiatives, including a reduction in its workforce.

Navistar to Add Cummins ISB to International Trucks; MaxxForce Diesels Continue

The Cummins ISB is available for order immediately in International DuraStar medium-duty trucks.

Navistar International Corp. says it will offer the Cummins ISB 6.7-liter diesel in its International DuraStar medium-duty trucks and CE series IC school buses, but that this doesn't mean it's getting out of the engine business.

Ford: Moisture in Cooler Causing Loss of Power in F-150 EcoBoost Engines

Customer complaints about loss of power with Ford’s EcoBoost V-6 engine in its F-150 pickups, reported by the general news media over the Memorial Day weekend, stem from moisture accumulation in the trucks’ charge-air cooler, Ford Motor Co. says. Dealers have been informed of a fix and will do the work under warranty.

Trucking Company Sues Caterpillar Over ACERT Engine Technology

Caterpillar advertised its C15 engine with ACERT technology for 2007 at an industry trade show.

Caterpillar is again facing legal action as a result of the ACERT engine technology it used to meet EPA's 2007 emissions regulations. A proposed class action suit filed last week in New Jersey federal court alleges Caterpillar sold defective engine systems that constantly failed and did not last as long as Caterpillar said they would.

Navistar Details Product Changes, Thinking Behind Emissions Strategy Change

Navistar chose Cummins Aftertreatment Solutions for a fast-to-market solution.

Navistar will be taking orders within a month for International ProStar+ tractors with a Cummins 15-liter ISX engine and Cummins selective catalytic reduction aftertreatment to meet EPA 2010 emissions regulations. By next May it plans to have available a 13-liter MaxxForce engine with Cummins SCR. The company will roll out both engines in other models in staggered launches throughout next year
