Daimler Bullish on North American Truck Market

SAN DIEGO – Daimler Trucks North America expects steady growth in truck sales over the next couple of years, projecting this year will end up with 374,000 Class 6-8 units sold in North America and 411,000 for 2015 – and it's getting ready to ramp up its production to accommodate.

Medium-Duty Engines Coming from Detroit

Cummins Filtration is recalling more than 63,000 fuel filters due to the possibility they could fail. The filters were distributed in both the aftermarket and on certain Cummins engines manufactured earlier this year.

Western Star has broken the aerodynamic truck mold with a new angular, edgy and very slippery version of its classic configuration. The 5700XE boasts a very fuel efficient powertrain as well as some groundbreaking aero treatment that Western Star says will give any aero truck on the road today a real run for its money. Three years in the making, Western Star launched the 5700XE in Las Vegas.

DTNA Breaks Ground on New Headquarters

Oregon Governor Kitzhaber, Daimler Trucks North America President and CEO Martin Daum and City of Portland Mayor Charlie Hales celebrate ground breaking of Daimler Trucks North America's new headquarters campus.

The total headquarters project requires a $150 million investment by Daimler Trucks North America. Work began in April 2014 to clear the land for construction of the new building with project completion slated for early 2016.

Daimler Trucks Hits SuperTruck Goals Ahead of Schedule

Daimler Trucks North America said Thursday it has realized the objectives of its SuperTruck program one year ahead of schedule. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, the SuperTruck program is an ambitious five-year research and development initiative focused on improving freight efficiency, reducing fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions of Class 8 trucks.
