Covenant Profit Doubles During Second Quarter

Tennessee-based Covenant Transportation Group said net income totaled $3.8 million, or 25 cents per share, compared with net income of $1.9 million, or 13 cents per share in the second quarter of 2013.

USA Truck, Covenant Transportation Narrow Losses

Arkansas-based truckload carrier and logistics provider, USA Truck, cut its net loss from $2.5 million in the first quarter of last year to $1.6 million in the first quarter of this year. This resulted in a diluted loss per share of 15 cents compared to 24 cents during the same time frame.

Covenant Net Income Doubles in Final Quarter of 2013

The parent to several freight transportation providers, including Covenant Transport, has released numbers showing net income doubled in the final quarter of the year, but there was a slight decline for all of 2013.

Covenant Transportation Income Doubles

The parent company of the carrier Covenant Transport and others, Covenant Transportation Group, has announced third quarter net income of $2 million compared with $1 million the same time a year ago. Company officials cited a higher unseated truck percentage and new hours of service regulations as factors.

Former Con-Way Executive Named to Covenant Transport Board

Former Con-Way executive Herbert “Herb” Schmidt has been elected to Covenant Transportation Group’s board of directors. Schmidt, age 57, served as the executive vice president of Con-Way Inc. and president of Con-way Truckload from 2007 to 2012.

More carriers have reported second quarter financial results, with both Covenant Transport and Universal Truckload showing a decline in profit, Pacer showing a slighter bigger one, and Saia and P.A.M. showing increases in both profit and revenue.

USA, FFE, Covenant, P.A.M. Report First Quarter Losses, Patriot Boosts Profit

Several mainly truckload fleets have released first quarter results, with USA Truck and Frozen Food Express reporting narrower losses from a year ago, while Covenant Transport’s widened, P.A.M. Transportation went from a profit to a loss, and Patriot Transportation showed a bigger profit.
