General Motors has added several new enhancements to its Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana for the 2015 model year, as its 2015 Chevrolet City Express compact van replaces the 1500-level full-size model that has been discontinued.

Following on the success of the Sprinter van in the U.S. market, Daimler plans to introduce a mid-size van sometime next year. The van made its debut in Berlin, Germany, in late July, but Daimler execs were coy on an actual release date for the American version of the van, saying only that it would be introduced in the fall 2015 in a MY 2016 designation.

Styling includes a grille that’s clearly from Nissan. Under the hood is a 2-liter inline-4 that makes 131 hp and 139 lb-ft.

There’s another small van in town. It’s called the NV200 Compact , and Nissan Commercial Vehicles wants you to buy it instead of a Ford Transit Connect or any other compact vehicle you might be considering to deliver goods and services.

GM to Buy Small Cargo Vans from Nissan for U.S., Canada Markets

Chevy City Express will be based on Nissan’s NV200 compact van. It goes on sale in fall of 2014 as a 2015 model.

General Motors and Nissan announced today that they have signed an agreement for Nissan to produce a small cargo van that GM will sell in the United States and Canada. It will be called the City Express and be sold by Chevrolet dealers.
