General Motors has struck ship-thru deals with Morgan Corp. and Supreme Corp. to add bodies to the first Chevrolet Low Cab Forward trucks expected to arrive in late August, according to a General Motors Fleet sales manager.

Low-Cab-Forward Registrations Have Exploded

Commercial registrations of low-cab-forward trucks in Classes 3-5 increased 9.3% to 21,995 in 2015 and have more than doubled since 2010, according to data provided by Isuzu Commercial Truck of America.

Chevrolet Low-Cab Forward Pricing Starting at $40K

The new trucks are offered in regular- and crew-cab body styles, with either a 6.0L V-8 gas engine, 3.0L turbo-diesel engine, or 5.2L turbo-diesel engine, all with 6-speed automatic transmissions.

Alkane COE Trucks Get DOT Approval

Alkane will use Foton cab-chassis from China with North American components, including a propane-fueled engine. Assembly in South Carolina is set for early 2016.

A big-block V-8 engine will burn propane and deliver diesel-like performance at lower cost, the company says.
