Economic Watch: 2013 Job Cuts Lowest Since 1997

Announced job cuts fell to the lowest level of the year in December as U.S.-based employers reported plans to reduce payrolls by 30,623 during the month, representing a 32% decline from a November total of 45,314, according to a new report by the global outplacement consultancy Challenger, Gray & Christmas.

Goodyear Expands Its Retread Network

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has expanded its Goodyear Authorized Retread network with the addition of Colonial Tire Distributors, a Richmond, Va.-based firm that serves trucking fleets with new Goodyear commercial truck tires, Goodyear retreads, and other products and services.

Love’s Travel Stops will introduce fast-fill compressed natural gas fueling capability for heavy-duty trucks at its travel stop located on Interstate 40 at exit 74 in east Amarillo, Texas. The Love’s Fast-Fill CNG station is expected to be open by the second quarter of 2014.
