Hazmat Carriers Seek Improvements in Regulations

Hazardous materials carriers want Congress to change several regulations when it writes the next highway law. William Downey, executive vice president for Kenan Advantage Group, told legislators at a Wednesday hearing that Congress should tell the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Administration to withdraw its proposed wetlines rule.

FMCSA Warns of Improper Medical Exams

Drivers whose medical exams were conducted by the late Dr. Paul Besdansky, Garden City, Ga., need to get a reexamination, says the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Besdansky was in failing health toward the end of his life and was not conducting proper exams, the agency said.
