BBB Industries Acquires Assets of Caliper CO., QBR Brake Inc.

BBB Industries and QBR Brake jointly announced that BBB Industries LLC has acquired substantially all of the assets of QBR Brake Inc. of Stockton, Calif. QBR is a remanufacturer and supplier of semi-loaded disc brake calipers and accessories to the automotive aftermarket in North America.

I-84 Westbound Ramp to Northbound I-5 Will Become One Lane

After the weekend striping, there will be one lane to northbound I-5 from I-84. The configuration allows both the middle and right lanes onto the ramp to northbound I-5. But motorists must then quickly choose between two exit-only ramps – one leading to the Rose Quarter and one to I-5.

The third and final closure in the Interstate 84 paving will begin at 11 p.m. Saturday when the westbound lanes close as the final phase of the project gets under way.

Westport Reports Net Loss of $33.9 million

Westport Innovations Inc. reported financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2013 and provided an update on operations. Westport revenue, excluding joint ventures' revenues, for the quarter ended June 30, 2013 was $34.9 million compared with $49.1 million for the same period last year. The prior quarter period included $14.1 million of service and other revenue recognized under OEM development agreements, including a one-time license revenue of $8.0 million.

Court Upholds 34-Hour Restart, Rejects 30-Minute Break for Short-Haul Drivers

A federal appeals court generally affirmed the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s new hours-of-service rule. It rejected the agency’s application of the 30-minute break to short-haul drivers.The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit upheld the 34-hour restart provision of the new truck driver hours-of-service rule but rejected the 30-minute break requirement for short-haul drivers.

Bertha, the world’s largest tunneling machine, officially started the 2-mile journey beneath downtown Seattle. U.S. Energy Department Updates Average Electric Vehicle Charging Station Price

The U.S. Energy Department has updated its national eGallon price, which is a way to compare the costs of fueling electric vehicles with the cost of gasoline. The DOE said the price of fueling an electric vehicle rose to $1.18 per eGallon on July 19, up from $1.14 from earlier in the year.

Ford to Offer CNG/LPG Capability on 2014 F-150 Pickups

2014 F-150’s 3.7-liter V-6 ordered with a gaseous preparation package can burn compressed natural gas or propane after upfitting by a Ford-approved modifier.

Ford Motor Co. says it will offer its 2014-model F-150 half-ton pickup with the ability to run on low-cost compressed natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas. The option will be available on the 3.7-liter V-6 engine with a factory-installed gaseous-fuel preparation package.
