Trucks Transported 60.8% of U.S.-NAFTA Trade in May 2013

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics of the U.S. Department of Transportation released May North American Free Trade Agreement freight numbers showing that trucks carried 60.8% of the $98.6 billion of freight moved in May 2013 between the United States and its NAFTA partners, Canada and Mexico.

Bertha, the world’s largest tunneling machine, officially started the 2-mile journey beneath downtown Seattle. This afternoon, Bertha’s 5-story-tall cutterhead broke through the north wall of her 80-foot-deep launch pit. She’s expected to emerge in about 14 months near the intersection of Sixth Avenue North and Harrison Street.

U.S. Energy Department Updates Average Electric Vehicle Charging Station Price

The U.S. Energy Department has updated its national eGallon price, which is a way to compare the costs of fueling electric vehicles with the cost of gasoline. The DOE said the price of fueling an electric vehicle rose to $1.18 per eGallon on July 19, up from $1.14 from earlier in the year.

Ford to Offer CNG/LPG Capability on 2014 F-150 Pickups

2014 F-150’s 3.7-liter V-6 ordered with a gaseous preparation package can burn compressed natural gas or propane after upfitting by a Ford-approved modifier.

Ford Motor Co. says it will offer its 2014-model F-150 half-ton pickup with the ability to run on low-cost compressed natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas. The option will be available on the 3.7-liter V-6 engine with a factory-installed gaseous-fuel preparation package.
