Detroit Kicks Off Production of DT12 Automated Manual Transmission

Daimler Trucks North America recently rolled out production of its new Detroit DT12 automated manual transmission, which it believes will help boost acceptance of AMTs in North America. Daimler hosted a group of North American journalists in its headquarters city of Stuttgart and in Gaggenau, Germany, where the transmission is initially being assembled.

Building Daimler's New Automated Transmission

Daimler Trucks shows off production of its new Detroit DT12 automated manual transmission, currently produced in Gaggenau, Germany, to members of the trucking press. Assembly is set to be transferred to Detroit's Redford, Mich., headquarters in 2015. GAGGENAU, GERMANY -- Managers at Daimler's Gaggenau, Germany, powertrain facility Monday proudly showed off how they are building the new Detroit DT12 automated manual transmission, which will be assembled here until it moves to Detroit brand headquarters in Redford, Mich., in 2015.
