Columbus to Build Second Publicly Accessible CNG Fueling Station

The City of Columbus plans to build a second compressed natural gas fueling station scheduled to open in March of 2014. Correction: Towards the end of this video, I describe two fill ports on the saddle tank as being for either the saddle tank or the cabinet tanks. In fact, either port will fuel all of the tanks simultaneously. One port, the smaller of the pair, is the one used by 95% of the retail CNG stations in North America. The larger port is a Transit port, which evolved from the transit industry, where they flow more fuel in a shorter period of time. Not many retail CNG stations currently use Transit ports, but as new stations are built, most are offering both fill ports. -- JP

KW Exec: Natural Gas Gaining Popularity but Diesel Will Still Dominate

CORRECTED -- Kenworth Truck Co. sees a lot of promise in natural gas-powered vehicles, so it featured them last week at gatherings for dealers, customers and trade press writers at its plant in Chillicothe, Ohio. But diesel-powered trucks form a huge majority of those on the road and will continue to dominate the Class 8 business, one of the company’s executives commented to reporters.
