Con-way Truckload has announced the rollout of an enhanced driver compensation package that raises per-mile pay, effective Sept. 7 for both company drivers and independent contractors.

YRC Worldwide Inc. cut it second quarter net loss to $4.9 million, or 16 cents per share, from $15.1 million, or $1.72 per share, from the same time a year ago.

The asset-light trucking and logistics service provider, Roadrunner Transportation Systems, has reported a small increase in its second quarter profit while revenue gained 36.6%.
“While continuing the work of implementing our turnaround plan, the progress we are making is evident in virtually every area of our business,” said President and CEO John Simone.
Less-than-truckload carrier, Old Dominion Freight Line, posted a 19.1% increase in its second quarter revenue while profit gained by a wider margin.
Trucking company and logistics parent Con-way Inc. has reported second-quarter net income of $53.7 million, or 93 cents per diluted share. This compares to second-quarter 2013 net income of $42.9 million, or 75 cents per diluted share.

The California Supreme Court issued a decision this week affirming the state’s labor and unemployment compensation laws are not preempted by federal statute, specifically the Federal Aviation Administration Authorization Act of 1994.
It totaled nearly $118.6 million compared to almost $111.9 while net revenue increased 10.2% to $521 million for the Minnesota-based company.
