The trucking operation, Arkansas Best, just renamed ArcBest, has reported a first quarter net loss of $2.9 million, or 11 cents per share, compared to a first quarter 2013 net loss of $13.4 million, or 52 cents per share.
The Arizona-based company reported net income of $12.3 million, or nine cents per diluted share, compared to first quarter 2013 profit of $30.3 million, or 21 cents per diluted share.

The trucking and logistics provider, Celadon Group, reports revenue for the quarter ending March 31 increased 29.1% to $193.2 million from $149.6 million in the March 2013 quarter.
Arkansas-based truckload carrier and logistics provider, USA Truck, cut its net loss from $2.5 million in the first quarter of last year to $1.6 million in the first quarter of this year. This resulted in a diluted loss per share of 15 cents compared to 24 cents during the same time frame.
