Canadian-based Vitran Corporation has announced it has entered into an agreement to sell its U.S. less-than-truckload business.
The parent of several trucking operations, YRC Worldwide, has announced CEO James Welch has assumed the responsibilities as president of the company’s national less-than-truckload service provider YRC Freight. He succeeds Jeff Rogers, who left the company for undisclosed reasons.

Platinum Equity has completed the acquisition of substantially all the assets of Bridge Terminal Transport Inc. from Maersk Inc., a subsidiary of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The business will continue to operate under the Bridge Terminal Transport brand going forward.
Wheels Group, a North American non-asset third party logistics provider, has acquired BBL Worldwide, a non-asset 3PL company providing specialized cross border truck brokerage services.
The asset-light and logistics service provider, Roadrunner Transportation Systems, Cudahy, Wisc., has acquired Yes Trans, a refrigerated truckload service provider based in Salisbury, Mass.

A U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge in Delaware has given vehicle hauler Allied Systems Holdings the go-ahead to sell most of its assets to a rival auto transporter for $135 million.
Bennett Motor Express, McDonough, Ga has completed the purchase of Ace Doran Hauling & Rigging, a Cincinnati, Ohio-based company since 1913.
