The parent to several trucking companies, including YRC Freight, released earnings Thursday showing an improvement in the fourth quarter, but the company was still in the red for all of last year.
Cummins Inc. on Thursday reported record revenue in 2014 along with a respectable increase in the fourth quarter, due to improvements in the North American truck market.
The less-than-truckload carrier Old Dominion Freight line has reported net income for the final quarter of 2014 rose 48.2% to $69.9 million from $47.2 million a year earlier.

Michigan-based trucking and logistics provider Con-way Inc. on Wednesday reported its fourth quarter 2014 profit was more than twice what it was a year earlier.
The third party logistics provider C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc. reported on Tuesday a 21.5% increase in net income for the final quarter of last year while it improved 8.1% for all of 2014.
Net income was $19.1 million, or 27 cents per diluted share on net sales of $527 million, a quarterly record for the third consecutive quarter...
The parent company to trucking operations ABF Freight, Panther Premium Logistics and others reported profit increased 41% in the final quarter of 2014 while it nearly tripled for all of last year.

The trucking company Heartland Express Inc. on Tuesday announced fourth quarter 2014 earnings showing net income increased 36% from the same time in 2013 totaling $21.5 million.
Depending on how you look at it, parcel and trucking giant UPS either saw its fourth quarter profit fall a little or a lot compared to a year earlier, thanks to expenses incurred avoiding the previous year's holiday delivery delays.
Net income totaled $585 million compared to $482 while earnings per diluted share moved higher to $1.23 from $1.

The truck and engine manufacturer Paccar Inc. on Friday reported record annual revenues of $18.99 billion and net income of $1.36 billion for 2014.
The less-than-truckload and logistics services provider Saia Inc. on Friday reported a significant hike in its fourth quarter net income, totaling $13.6 million compared to $8.1 million a year earlier.
Net income totaled $32.7 million while revenue increased 7% to $553.2 million. Earning per diluted share were up 49% to 45 cents.
