Paper Transport Adds 20 Natural Gas-Powered Kenworth T660s To Regional Fleet

Paper Transport began testing two Kenworth natural gas trucks in 2012 and this spring the company became one of Kenworth’s first customers to run CNG-powered Kenworth T660s with the Cummins Westport ISX12 G engine, according to the company.

Test Drive: KW T800, ISX12 G Paired

My drive of the Cummins Wesport ISX12 G was at a mid-July “natural gas summit” hosted by Kenworth at its plant in Chillicothe, Ohio. A half-dozen gas-powered KWs built for different applications were offered to dealers, customers and press reporters for inspection and evaluation. A few fellows with CDLs, like me, took them for drives, and I had – how shall I say? – a learning experience while in a T800 short-haul daycab tractor pulling a 53-foot van trailer.

ProMaster Van, 6.4 Hemi V-8, EcoDiesel V-6 Offer New Capabilities to Ram Customers

Chrysler’s Ram brand has an entirely new truck and two new engines just entering the market, and work-oriented customers might find them to be terrific tools. The new truck is the ProMaster full-size van, and the engines are the large-displacement 6.4-liter gasoline V-8 for Ram Heavy Duty models and compact 3-liter diesel V-6 for the Ram 1500 pickup.

Truck and engine manufacturer Navistar International announced a fiscal third quarter 2013 net loss of $247 million compared to third quarter 2012 net income of $84 million. Earlier this month, the company began implementing new cost-reduction initiatives, including a reduction in its workforce.
