New York has updated its list of trucks that are eligible under its Voucher Incentive Program, a $19 million “first come, first served” program that aims to accelerate the deployment of alternative fuel vehicles and diesel emission control devices for medium to heavy duty commercial fleets in the state.

Kroger announced will be the first in Oregon to deploy a fleet of heavy-duty trucks that run on liquified natural gas. The 40 LNG trucks will replace 40 diesel trucks currently in use, and are expected to start making store deliveries in the Portland metropolitan area by the end of 2014.

Alabama senators Thursday approved legislation to change the way motor fuel road taxes are collected on natural gas sold in the state, which supporters say will help expand the market for alternative fuels.
Expanding the use of natural gas as a transportation fuel and greater use of aerodynamic devices on trailers are among the strategies recommended by a new National Research Council report for reducing fuel consumption by tractor-trailers, transit buses, commercial vehicles, trucks, and other medium and heavy-duty vehicles.
Clean Energy Fuels continues to grow its natural-gas fueling network, with expansions in Texas, Pennsylvania and New York, and more fleets signing on to fuel at the nationwide network.
