Midwest Automotive Designs is recalling 28 2016-model year Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 and 3500 vans equipped with certain left-side seat adjusters manufactured by Atwood, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The vans at issue were manufactured from July 1 to Sept. 30 of this year. In them, faulty left-side seat adjusters (model number 486077) may allow the seats to move in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of occupant injury, NHTSA said. Consequently, the seat adjusters don’t comply with federal safety standards.

Midwest dealers will replace the left slide track, free of charge. The recall is due to begin this month.

Midwest Automotive Designs specializes in Sprinter van custom conversions, including those geared for business executives in need of a mobile office. The company is based in Elkhart, Ind.

Van owners can reach Midwest Automotive Designs customer service at (574) 522-4878.
