FCA US is recalling an estimated 23,879 2015-2016 Ram ProMaster City vans in the U.S., so dealers can relocate an electrical connector to further protect it from excessive moisture intrusion, according to the automaker.

Snow buildup or excessive water accumulation near the front of the driver-side seat track may expose a connector to too much moisture. Over time, this condition may cause corrosion and potentially affect signals sent to the vehicle’s transmission control module.

Disrupted signals might lead to an unexpected shift to “neutral” when the vehicle is brought to a stop, FCA US (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) noted.

“FCA US discovered the issue following a routine review of warranty data,” the manufacturer said in a released statement. “The Company is unaware of any related injuries or accidents.”

An additional 3,050 vehicles are being recalled in Canada.

Customers will be notified when they can schedule service. In the interim, FCA US advises vehicle owners to protect the driver-side footwells of the vehicle from excessive moisture.

The FCA US Customer Care Center can be reached at (800) 853-1403.
