Allan Hicks of BR Williams Trucking in Oxford, Ala., was honored with the 2015 National Safety Director Award, which is presented annually by the American Trucking Associations.

During Hicks tenure as safety director, BR Williams received more than 50 safety awards from ATA, the Alabama Trucking Association, and the Truckload Carriers Association. Hicks was awarded the Safety Professional of the Year award byf the Alabama Trucking Association in 2001. His company has also won the Liberty Mutual Insurance Excellence Award for Truck Safety in eight consecutive years.

“Safety is our industry’s biggest priority and when you read through Allan Hicks’ list of accomplishments as a safety director, it is very apparent that he is fully dedicated to safety,” said Bill Graves, ATA president and CEO. “Devoting one’s life to the safety of our highways is a noble cause and I am proud that we have men and women like Allan working in our industry.”

In addition to his work with BR Williams, Hicks also educates the industry and public about safety, presenting to students at Auburn University as well as the American Moving and Storage Association, Kentucky Trucking Association and hosting CSA workshops in Alabama and Georgia.

Hicks has been a part of the trucking industry for more than 48 years. He entered the industry as a dispatcher for CRST Malone. He worked in various roles with CF Motor Freight and Roadway Express before joining BR Williams Trucking in 1997.
