Due to a planned closure on the morning of Feb. 17, drivers using Interstate 270 in North St. Louis County and Madison County, Ill., are being encouraged to consider alternate routes.

Eastbound Interstate 270 will be closed at Riverview Blvd., at 10 a.m. through noon. All Missouri traffic on the eastbound lanes are encouraged to exit by Interstate 170 and use Interstate 70 to cross the state line. Traffic in the westbound lanes will be required to exit by mile marker 3.

The closure is due to the Illinois Department of Transportation’s scheduled demolition work on the Canal Bridge. This closure is the final instance of three needed to demolish the aging bridge. All work times may be changed due to weather.

For alternate routes, consider using Interstate 70, Interstate 44, Interstate 64 and Interstate 270/255 at the state line crossing south of St. Louis City.
