Pilot Flying J named Kyle Cones as its 2014 Road Warrior winner. Cones is a U.S. Army veteran and driver for Pride Transport from Sandia Park, New Mexico. He will receive a $10,000 check from Pilot Flying J for winning the award.

Cones was recognized for his commitment to safety as well as to his fellow drivers, family and country.

Cones was nominated by his wife, Brittney, and received support from colleagues, family and friends. He was injured serving overseas in Afghanistan, which limited his ability to find work at home, but he found trucking to be a good opportunity.

The Road Warrior program was launched to recognize drivers who go above and beyond the call of duty. Pilot Flying J received stories of generosity, bravery and dedication from those who nominated drivers for the award.

“I’m shocked and humbled to receive this honor,” said Cones. “I am proud to serve alongside so many great drivers and to be part of an industry with a true sense of camaraderie and respect among us.”

“This year we heard stories of drivers who have saved other’s lives while on the road, who have served their country in the military, who volunteer in their communities and who have dedicated years to keep America moving,” said Whitney Haslam Johnson, director of brand and customer experience for Pilot Flying J.
